Picture Journal: September 2, 2011 (Meeting James Jean)

In honor of the release of James Jean's monogram, Rebus, a comic about meeting him. Definitely one of my more experimental comics. I pretty much brought ALL of the books he'd released (and I collected) over the years (Process Recess 1 having been acquired six or so years ago). A lot of time seemingly elapses within the four panels and the reason why is just after the jump.

He, in fact, took the time to draw in every single book! Process Recess 1, 2 and 3, Fables Covers (the one with Snow White in the first picture), Kindling, XOXO and Rift. There was a line behind me and everything but he didn't seem to mind. What a guy! Incidentally my buddy (in the fourth panel of the comic) asked him to write her a message on one of the postcards in XOXO. So he did.

I preordered Rebus at Comic-Con and received a bookplate (first picture). Y'all should get it because it is one handsome book.
